Devon & Russ 6.7.08

Being on the Vineyard has always been about spending time with family for me. So it was a special treat to photograph my cousin Russ's wedding and I could not be more thrilled that he has added someone as sweet and lovely as Devon to the family!

Their wedding encompassed all that I love about Vineyard weddings: a breathtaking setting, great music and wonderful food all with an effortless elegance.

Devon & Russ, I can't thank you two enough for the opportunity to document your lovely day!

Below are a few highlights from the day, for some more pics check out the slideshow.

Junebugs

I'm blogging behind, but wanted to share a few images from Devon and Russ's rehearsal dinner on June 6th. More on the way!

The festivities kicked off at one of Martha's Vineyards coziest and most delicious restaurants Cafe Moxie.

Could they be any cuter?!?

I love this one of Russ, he looks sooooo happy!

Jenny & Al 5.31.08

Jenny & Al's ceremony was the first Quaker ceremony I've attended and I will remember it forever. The ceremony is conducted in silence punctuated by readings and guests have the opportunity to contribute as they feel moved to. For the most part everyone sat together and listened to the sound of waves crashing on the beach. The rest of the day was full of laughter, great speeches, lots of dancing and amazing pie made by Al's sister-in-law! Thank you Jenny & Al for the opportunity to share in such a special day. Thanks also to Tara for planning another spectacular day and Lindsay Flanagan for second shooting! Click here for the slideshow.

The Moxster

I'm just on my way back to Martha's Vineyard after a few days in CT for a little work and a little play. Here's a quick snap of Monster Mox working her core strength at Gramps & Meem's house. I promised her some of Gramp's fried eggs & bacon if she let me take some pictures, I just didn't tell her she'd have to wait till she had some teeth to eat them :-)

Trading Sidewalks for Sand

Ever since I was little I've dreamed of living on Martha's Vineyard. I use to cry when we packed up the car and left the island at the end of the summer and was thrilled when Hurricane Bob put the Chappy Ferry out of commission and a swim with a bar of soap constituted a bath. So after several Manhattan summers, I've taken the plunge and relocated for the summer. Below are some pics of my new office on Beach Road in Vineyard Haven. I've spent the last week and a bit getting settled and gearing up for an exciting summer season with weddings both on and off the island.

The reclaimed wood frames are from the lovely folks at the Frame Center in Vineyard Haven.

Thanks to Sofya at Nochi for the beautiful flowers!

The chairs are ridiculously comfortable, thank you Joanne!!!

As soon as I laid eyes on this trunk I picked it up and put it in my office. I'm lucky enough to have my studio in a building full of creative folks. When you enter the building you'll see some of the super cool creations by Gristmill Builders, who made the trunk. Thankfully I am not strong enough nor do I have room for some of the other fabulous furniture in their showroom.

Essential elements. I am strategically located within walking distance of the best coffee on the island.

The view. My office faces the shipyard and the inlet where I attempted to become a windsurfer...I wasn't terribly successful.

You know you're not in Manhattan when...

...you have to stop for a wild turkey crossing the road on your way to work. More on my new summer headquarters coming soon!

I've been branded!

My new business cards arrived last week and in my humble opinion they are beautiful!!! Huge thanks to Zoë of Zoë Ink for her lovely creation and being such a joy to work with. Whether you are looking for a new logo or a wedding invitation, definitely check her out! And a huge thanks to Mike Colón for recommending Zoë. I took a workshop with Mike back in February where he shared a ton of great info as well as his super cool business card, which I like almost as much as mine :-) Actually I'm totally envious of his signature, I wish mine looked as cool. Thank you both!
